Opening Reception May 8, 2018
Wave Pool Gallery, 2940 Colerain Ave, Cincinnati, OH
In May 2018 I will be in residence at Wave Pool Gallery. During my time in Cincinnati I will seek to answer the question, “Can we build communities through Play?” Through a created game that tests social, cultural, and emotional knowledge. By questioning “Did O.J. do it?” “What day did Beyonce turn Black?” “Can you walk like an Egyptian?” the game also wants to know if you can “list seven young men and/or women who were murdered by police in the past four years.” Players will be challenged in various means. The game will ask them to be okay with not knowing an answer, and to feel even more comfortable with knowing how to ask for the answer. We create our own communities based on what we share and how we care for one another. Participants will be able to show their care through play (verbal discussion), dance (intellectual conversation with one’s body) and investigation (openness to learning).
May 8th will be the commencement of game nights in Camp Washington with a soft opening at 6:00 PM, light refreshments will be provided.

In conjunction with body | armor, I will be leading a workshop to exercise the body and cultural understanding. The description is as follows:
Do you like to workout? Do you like to dance? Do you like combining the two? If so enjoy a 2 hour twerkout session with Bloomfield Hills renown Twerk enthusiast Chelsea A. Flowers. As a participant you will learn and enhance your twerk skills, as well as learn how to listen to your body's muscles and maximize the effects of your twerking. We will work on form, technique and learn different positions to enhance the muscles utilized during the twerkout.
All levels if experience are welcome, and prepare for a fun session of learning and physical challenges.

Opening reception February 10th, 6:00-9:00 PM
Because of Ronald Reagan my eggs are worthless. Can’t sell ‘em, can’t donate them, can’t even benefit from reproducing. Oh the woes of having a physicality that is criminalized and predisposed to premature death. But there’s an upside: Crack! Thanks to Ronald Reagan I can live out my pipe dreams of my humanity being acknowledged. With the four ingredients of cocaine, rat poison, baking soda and water. Life’s a party when you ride the wave.
