Chelsea A. Flowers isn't normally a liar, but when it came to her much needed therapy, the bitch couldn't help but tell lie after lie. Making little progress in sessions. Feeling quite sure that her therapist sold her fabricated life story to Lifetime, she wants to share it with you first.

In an evening of performance, story telling, and tacos; Flowers will share the lies she told her therapist. Featuring the performances by Coco Spencer, Amber Beasley, and Laura Gibson.

Suggested Donation: $5

Do you remember Ronald Reagan’s presidency? We don’t, we weren’t alive for it. But we do remember the false idolization and mysticism that came with the slight utterance of Jelly Beans.

With one of us being the daughter of a U.S. soldier and the other, whose mere existence is criminalized, we acknowledge that Reagan’s legacy has ramifications to this day. But it’s not all that bad, Reagan did bring us Crack! For the evening let’s live out our pipe dreams with cake, comedy, a good ole roast, false symbols and some crack..

Do you know what the Melanated Corner is? Yes? No? Maybe? Well to get a working definition, it's the space during an art opening where the POC gather. It can be in various locations in the venue, but most commonly is by the bathroom or the food. It's the space that is void of micro/macroaggressions. And where a POC doesn't have to defend not knowing the latest slang. Presented in comedy/karaoke formats, Chelsea A. Flowers' Musings from the Corner enables you to take a gander at conversational topics inside the Corner. Enjoy the voyeuristic gaze into otherness.

Chelsea A. Flowers Brings Game Night to Camp Washington. by Chelsea Flowers

Opening Reception May 8, 2018

6:00-8:00 PM

Wave Pool Gallery, 2940 Colerain Ave, Cincinnati, OH

In May 2018 I will be in residence at Wave Pool Gallery. During my time in Cincinnati I will seek to answer the question, “Can we build communities through Play?” Through a created game that tests social, cultural, and emotional knowledge. By questioning “Did O.J. do it?” “What day did Beyonce turn Black?” “Can you walk like an Egyptian?” the game also wants to know if you can “list seven young men and/or women who were murdered by police in the past four years.” Players will be challenged in various means. The game will ask them to be okay with not knowing an answer, and to feel even more comfortable with knowing how to ask for the answer. We create our own communities based on what we share and how we care for one another. Participants will be able to show their care through play (verbal discussion), dance (intellectual conversation with one’s body) and investigation (openness to learning).

May 8th will be the commencement of game nights in Camp Washington with a soft opening at 6:00 PM, light refreshments will be provided.

New Works by Chelsea A. Flowers, Courtesy of Ronald Reagan

February 10- March 12, 2018

Opening reception February 10th, 6:00-9:00 PM

Because of Ronald Reagan my eggs are worthless. Can’t sell ‘em, can’t donate them, can’t even benefit from reproducing. Oh the woes of having a physicality that is criminalized and predisposed to premature death. But there’s an upside: Crack! Thanks to Ronald Reagan I can live out my pipe dreams of my humanity being acknowledged. With the four ingredients of cocaine, rat poison, baking soda and water. Life’s a party when you ride the wave.
